Beauties ;
I was recently contacted by MAKE UP FOR EVER Canada and was offered some products to try out and review. I normally wait to give a review so I am going to leave like a first impression deal and explain my thoughts on the HD complexion kit. Thank you Aida from MAKE UP FOR EVER Canada for sending me the HD complexion kit to review.
A little bit of information on the HD Complexion Starter Kit as listed on Sephora.ca

First Impressions:

Primer: (Prep Stage) HD Microperfecting Primer #0
Firstly the smell was so lovely. I know right? .. The smell is clean and floraly.. This primer is not thick which I liked as it is known to moisturise so this protects the skin from dryness. When the primer drys its so soft I really enjoy how it made my face feel. To apply all I did was use my finger tips in a downward motion on my entire face.

Foundation: (Cover Stage) HD Invisible Cover #118 "Flesh"
Aida did a wonderful job with color matching considering I only sent her a picture. She did recommend I go to a local Sephora and be colour matched, however my closest Sephora is 2 hours away so she was fantastic on that as the colour really suited me. This foundation is described as medium to full coverage. I would definitely say little to medium coverage. I love the finish and the way it sets into my skin I just felt it did nothing in terms of covering redness on my face or acne scars. The thing I was impressed about was the fact there are 26 shades that are guaranteed to match all skin tones from lightest to deepest

As you can tell the foundation just lightly covered the redness on my checks and covered some of my freckles as I have lots.

Powder: (Finish Stage) HD Microfinish Powder & Kabuki Brush
I really loved this setting powder. It's super fine and with the kabuki brush it works a-maze! After the foundation I set using this stuff. I couldn't be more happier. The way it instantly mattified my face was something I loved the most about this product. It's super fine in texture and makes your face even more soft rather than just using the foundation. This powder is also talc and paraben free which is a bonus. The kabuki brush is also super soft and it makes the powder go on flawlessly.
Overall I really have been enjoying this starter kit. I really would purchase the HD powder this was my favourite out of the bunch. I wish the foundation had more coverage but I adore the way it feels and looks on the skin. Thank you again MAKE UP FOREVER CANADA for sending Beauty Box Canada these products for review and a special thank you to Aida for matching me the perfect shade.

Have you tried MAKE UP FOREVER?

  1. everything looks so awesome! I've heard from gossmakeupartist on youtube that you've got to be careful with the HD powder - it shows up as stark white in flash photography! :O

    1. Thanks for reading Steph , Yes :) a little powder is all that's needed- the powder goes on very translucent however to much will cause a "white" cast with a flash!
