Beauty Balm Creams .. Skip The Foundation?

Hey Beauties ; I hope your all having a fantastic week this far. This post is going to be directed to the much raved BB (Beauty Balm) cream. My very first BB cream was Maybelline's Dream Fresh in the shade light/medium. I feel inlove and found myself reaching more for this than my foundation. The Maybelline BB cream is super light weight and was featured in some of my "favorites" posted throughout 2012. Since using BB cream typically everyday I have got quite the collection beginning.
I have really been enjoying using BB creams over my foundation for everyday use rather than something more full coverage. There have been plenty of times Ive reached for a BB cream even on days where I could use full coverage as I feel with some of the foundations I use it gives the same coverage as BB cream. In my collection (swatches left to right) in the colors typically light/medium I have the following BB creams.
  • Maybelline Dream Fresh BB : My first ever BB cream. I adore this BB cream so much. It applys flawlessly with my beauty blender or foundation brush and last's the entire day. It's true to color and the formula is not to thick.
  • Loreal Magic BB : This BB cream is just okay for me. I love the color pay off and the formulation but I do not like how it comes out of the tub. When this BB cream comes out it's white in color with a consistency like tiny micro beads (used in exfoliant) for me I dont like that Id prefer that just to be in an exfoliant.
  • Garnier Skin Renew BB : This BB cream is amazing. I heard so many negative things about it at first I just stayed away until Romanianbutterfly suggested with the right setting powder it works flawlessly. She was absolutly correct. Set this BB cream with MAC mineralized skin finish and its just a-mazing. I find the formula to be a bit on the thick side, however this means less is more and typically its more full coverage.
  • Loreal Youth Code BB : This is not one of my favorite BB creams, The color is light and its super orange in color (on my skin tone anyways) with this being said I have not used much of it and will continue to test it out. (if youd like a review comment below)
  • Lioele Beyond The Solution BB : If you like Korean products this product is a must to try. I adore the smell (floral) it smells so clean and applys smoothly on the skin. This gives the perfect matte finish to your face and is perfect for oily/combination skin
I am looking forward to trying more BB creams (like the new Urban Decay Naked Skin BB cream) I will keep you all posted when I add more BB creams to my collection.

What are your thoughts on Beauty Balms? Do you have any in your collection?

  1. I have really been liking the Garnier BB Cream. My mom has used it for awhile now but I just got on the band wagon. I wish it was slightly thinner in consistency but overall I am loving the coverage and staying power. I heard that Garnier is coming out with a BB made especially for people with oily skin so I will definitely be checking that out. Also Covergirl just came out with there version of a BB cream and I might pick that up as well
    Great review!
